My Kitchen Renovation

Well I’m finally ready to share my kitchen reveal with you!!  Thanks for being patient!  It’s been a big project and we’re so happy to have it finished!  So here’s a quick reminder of what it looked like to start with…

And here it is today!!

Here are some side by sides so you can get the full affect.

You’ll notice we decided to drop the island down to one level.  The two levels were good in theory to hide any stove messes, but I decided it really broke up the work surface.  We also had outgrown the corner with the table that we ate our meals as.  So the goal was to make the island our main dining surface.  For something unique, we had a barn wood extension custom made to add to the end so we could fit the 5 of us.  I’ll tell you more about this in another post and share the details of the talented man who made it!

I finally got the farmhouse sink installed that I bought off of craigslist 3 years ago!  It’s originally from Ikea and normally retails for $186, but I got it for $90.  I purchased a new faucet with a sprayer from Lowes and we love it!For 15 years I lived with the blah butcher block laminate tops and bask splash.  They could have been worse, but I was so thrilled to finally get the concrete counter tops and carrara marble subway tile I had been dreaming of!

So here’s a quick recap of what all we did…As you can see, we also replaced our rundown ducktaped fridge with beautiful stainless steel, bottom freezer and we are in love with it!!!  The excitement of the ice and water dispenser has yet to wear off for my boys!

You’ll also notice all of the new trim detail my amazing husband added to the cabinets.  This made a HUGE difference and really gave them a custom look!

I also switched out the glass sconce shades with a unique set I found at a local antique shop.

One last change I made was switching out the pewter knobs with “crystal” knobs I purchased in bulk at Target.  Love the feminine touch it added!
